About the venue
The Mound is the steep hill that connects the Edinburgh New Town and Old Town in the city centre.
There is a busy main road up the Mound past the National Gallery Complex, which is also used frequently for processions, parades, and outdoor events such as Edinburgh's Christmas Light Night and Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party.
You can also walk up the Mound via a staircase on the West Side of the galleries (Mound precinct).
The Mound divides the East Princes Street Gardens and West Princes Street Gardens.
It was created out of the excavated material from the former Nor' Loch (now the gardens).
