Edinburgh marks Fairtrade Fortnight with a free brunch at the National Library of Scotland.
The Fairtrade brunch, organised by the Edinburgh Fairtrade City Group and supported by Scotmid. Members of the public will be able to drop in for a browse of the Fairtrade craft stalls while they munch on free Fairtrade bananas and snack bars, washed down with Fairtrade coffee.
The Fairtrade brunch will include craft stalls from the One World Shop and Hadeel in Edinburgh's west end, as well Palestinian craft producers.
"We want as many people as possible to drop into the National Library on Thursday morning and help us celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight," said Lord Provost George Grubb.
"We are grateful to Scotmid for their support in putting on this Fairtrade Brunch. There will be lots of Fairtrade goodies up for grabs, and we'll be announcing the winners of this year's Fair Trade Awards, which are a great way to acknowledge the fantastic contribution that individuals and businesses are making to Fair Trade throughout Edinburgh."
Fair Trade Awards in the following categories will be announced:
- Best Fair Trade General
- Best Fair Trade Newcomer
- Best Fair Trade Faith Community Group.
The Best Fair Trade School and Best Fair Trade Community Group will be announced at a special event on Tuesday 2 March 2010.
