About the venue

George Street is one of the main streets in Edinburgh's New Town, built according to James Craig's 1760s grid plan.

This elegant neo-classical street extends from St Andrew Square in the East across four blocks to Charlotte Square in the West. It lies between two other major streets, Princes Street to the South and Queen Street to the North.

The historic facades of the original Georgian buildings have been maintained. The street has been synomyous with Edinburgh's financial industry although it is also a popular destination for its restaurants, pubs, and upmarket retailers.

The street, which was built to be wide enough to turn a horse-pulled carriage, also provides a good space for large public events like Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations.
