The time is memorable - 1pm on 1-1-11. The show should be too with five of Scotland’s leading song-writers, Dougie MacLean, Roddy Woomble, Roddy Hart, Tommy Reilly and Dick Gaughan, performing specially written Resolution Songs commissioned by Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.
This will be followed by Scotland’s Number Ones – which involves performances by award winning musicians, featuring Lau (BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winners 2010 – ‘Best Group’), Julie Fowlis (BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winner – ‘Folk Singer of the Year’), Boghall & Bathgate Pipe Band (Scotland’s No.1 Pipe Band) and Brian Kellock (BBC Radio Jazz Award Winner - 'Best Instrumentalist' & 'Best Album').
Alongside the stage, specially commissioned Resolution Haiku’s (one line poems of 17 syllables) from award-winning Scottish writers and some of the country’s foremost poets, including Don Paterson, A L Kennedy, and Edinburgh’s Makar, Ron Butlin, will be projected onto giant screens.
