Artisan pottery business, run on a social enterprise model, that offers a variety of different length courses in pottery.
Founded by Andy Lang, The Potter of Leith, courses provide a focus on the potter's wheel, with reduction firing offered at the pottery's gas kiln. Work by Lang, an artisan of over 40 years experience, is wheel thrown and both functional and decorative. Some works can be seen in the gallery (check site for times).
Courses vary from 10 week courses, weekend workshops, 1-2-1 tuition and group experiences in pottery and ceramics. Free and subsidised access to classes and workshops to those living with poor mental health, social isolation or exclusion.
During the Fringe 2022, hosts exhibition of new, high-fired stoneware using mainly wood, ash and copper-based glazes, showcasing the famously elusive copper reds possible only in reduction firing.
