As a member of the Festival Critics team at Edinburgh Guide, I have been browsing through the 344 page Fringe programme to find an enticing and diverse range of theatre, dance and music shows to review. One of the productions I selected is "Running on Air," taking place at the Pleasance Courtyard. The quirky, humorous plot about a girl's journey from Land's End to Edinburgh appealed to me.
But it seems to be difficult to obtain a ticket. The reason? Actress-comedian, Laura Mugridge (semi finalist, in So You Think You are Funny and Fringe First winner for "Paperweight"), is performing this show in the back of a yellow vintage VW Campervan, parked in the Pleasance Courtyard.
In previous years, Fringe shows have taken place in private flats, a car (while driving around the city), public toilets and a lift. Laura's Campervan must be the smallest venue at this year's Fringe. Only five theatre-goers at a time can see each performance in her wee yellow theatre. If I can manage to squeeze in one day, I shall write a review.
"Running on Air" is performed twice daily from 4 - 30 August (not Mon) at the Pleasance Courtyard.
