Description
Starting in the morning, students from schools and universities across Scotland will compete to win the St Andrew’s Day debating prize. Heats will commence at 10am with the final - which is open to the public - taking place in the parliament's Debating Chamber from 4pm to 5.30pm.
Now running for its fourth year, the St Andrew's Day debate sees university and secondary school pupils from across Scotland form teams to debate on issues relevant to young people today. A judging panel decides on the winning team as well as awarding prizes to the best debaters throughout the competition.
The event is organised by the Scottish Parliament, the Scottish Government and the English Speaking Union.
