The official 3-day festival over Edinburgh's Hogmanay includes a creative, culture crawl through Edinburgh's Old Town centre on New Year's Day called Scot:Lands.
The event is free but you'll need to pre-register to be allocated tickets. A late allocation of tickets is released at the end of December.
Scot:Lands
The 2017 Scot:Lands marks the fourth year of this popular New Year's event. This is how it works: in each of the 9 mystery venues, musicians and artists from across Scotland have been set the task of creating a distinctive and bespoke atmosphere reflecting their work and the places that have inspired them.
Culture crawlers pick up their Scot:Lands map and "Landing Card" from the Departure Lounge in the University of Edinburgh’s Old College, then continue along a randomly selected and mysterious route around familiar and unknown, indoor and outdoor, atmospheric venues at their own pace. Interactive sessions featuring music, dance, storytelling, as well as food and drink, await.
The event is from 1-5pm with ‘check in’ starting from 12.30pm.
Following the Scot:Lands there is The Final Fling, the closing event of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay at the National Museum of Scotland with music and Ceilidh Callers from Heeliegoleerie.
Scot:Lands is supported by the Scottish Government’s Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund.
