The Munich Oktoberfest gets a Scottish makeover down in Leith.
This 3-weekend Oktoberfest event is presented by the Pitt Street Market, in partnership with Barney’s Beer. As well as regular traders of the Pitt Market, there'll be live music on the Saturdays from local bands.
Beers on tap in the beer hall will be from six of Munich’s finest breweries - Augustiner, Hofbräu, Spaten, Paulaner, Löwenbräu, and Hacker Pschorr.
Entry price is the same as usual for the Pitt (£2) with familiar street food vendors, specially selected to pair with the beers: think plenty of sausages, hot dogs, kebabs and shawarma. There's also buttermilk buffalo chicken burgers, steak and chips, plus plenty of veggie, vegan and gluten free options.
Music line-up
Saturday 21 September will feature an afternoon set from Brass Gumbo, a New Orleans inspired musical melting pot of funk, jazz and more - think classics straight from the French Quarter to unexpected covers of pop bangers, with players from Horndog Brass Band, The Katet, Brass Aye? And Orkestra del Sol.
Saturday 28 September welcomes Shunpike Social Club, Portobello’s foremost street brass band, who’ve gladly stepped out of the Forth waters for the day and shaken the salt water off their horns to make the short journey over to EH6.
For the final weekend on Saturday 5 October, Slaughterhouse Brass Band play: Joyful ska played on brass and banjo, featuring musicians from Salsa Celtica, Groupo Magnetico and Orkestra del Sol, and also featuring the titular Barney of Barney’s Beer as one of their members.
