Council funds of up to £2,500 are being made available for green initiatives in the local community through Waste Action Grants.
Householders, community groups, youth groups and schools can submit an application for funding, but need to do so by Thursday 14 November.
Small and large grants, from £50-£200 to £500-£2500, are available for projects that encourage more people in Edinburgh to be environmentally conscious about the rubbish they produce.
The Waste Action Grant Programme was launched in April 2005 and has helped to support waste related community initiatives across Edinburgh that inspire residents to find innovative ways to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste.
In 2013, 12 groups received a total of £24,790 in project funding. These initiatives saw an estimated 10 tonnes of waste recycled and reused as opposed to going to landfill.
Gorgie City Farm was recently awarded a £2,000 Waste Action Grant to fund signage, purchase can crushers and install interactive, self-led activities.
Environment Convener Councillor Lesley Hinds says the grants help communicate the idea that recycling should be a part of daily life.
"Local groups have come up with really innovative ideas, and I am delighted that we are able to help them in this way," said Hinds.
