About the venue

A showcase, New Town building, run by the National Trust of Scotland as a public museum, the Georgian House has been carefully restored as a typical upper class home of the late 18th-early 19th century.

The interior includes paintings by Scottish artists Sir Henry Raeburn, Allan Ramsay and Alexander Nasmyth, as well as furniture, porcelain, silver and glass that reflect the fashionable, New Town lifestyle of the time of the Lamont family, the first owners of the building.

The Georgian House at No. 7 Charlotte Square continues to be a prestigious location. It is next door to Bute House, the official residence of First Minister. It looks out upon the leafy, green expanse of Charlotte Square Gardens, one of a fine example of Robert Adam's original architectural paradigm for Edinburgh's New Town.

The Georgian House also hosts children's events and is available for private functions.
