About the venue

Known as the crowing place of Scottish kings, Robert the Bruce was crowned in 1306 at Scone and the last coronation was of Charles II, when he accepted the Scottish crown in 1651.

Scone Palace was built in 1808 for the Earls of Mansfield, constructed of red sandstone in the Georgian Gothic style. It is surrounded by 1900 hectares of woodland (much of it commercial forestry) and farmland, with salmon runs on the River Tay.
