About the venue

Lauriston Castle is set in 30 acres of parkland and formal gardens with spectacular views overlooking the Firth of Forth.

A 19th century mansion built around a 16th century tower house, the Castle has been home to a number of notable Scots and provides a snapshot of life in an Edinburgh middle-class home at the beginning of the 20th century.

It was entrusted to the care of City of Edinburgh Council in 1926.

There are tours (check web site) throughout winter and summer months.

Mimi’s Little Bakehouse, which opened in the grounds of Lauriston Castle in 2020, has an all-day brunch menu, cakes and hot drinks. It's mainly a takeaway service, with limited seating.

The grounds are open 8am close 7.30pm in summer. As well as woodland walks, Lauristan Castle has an award-winning Japanese garden. Admission is free.
