Santa Land is an outdoor, Christmas-themed, kids' pop-up site found in West Princes Street Gardens each year during Edinburgh's Christmas with rides, hot food and drinks, Santa's grotto and a Christmas Tree Maze.
Santa Land is a short walk from the Christmas Market at the Mound and East Princes Street Gardens. Santa Land is also a five-minute walk away from the ice rink on George Street George Street Ice Rink.
Situated at the west end of West Princes Street Garden, Santa Land is more of family orientated Christmas location compared to the Christmas Market.
Santa Land's big attraction (for the littles, at least) is meeting the big, bearded man himself and cosy up with blankies and hot chocolate to listen to him tell a story.
Admission to Santa's cabin, however, is by paid ticket only so you'll need to book a set 20-minute time slot (see ticket details below for "Santa's Stories"). In the past, kids received an age-appropriate present. Sittings will include BSL, relaxed and audio described sessions.
Santa Land also features paid and fairground attractions on a smaller more family orientated scale such as bumper cars and waltzers, and food and drink.
Santa Land was renamed the Festive Family Funfair in 2023, after Santa moved to St Andrew Square, for storytelling in the pop-up location called Santa's Winter Garden.
In 2025, Santa moved back to West Princes Street Garden, when the business owners at St Andrew Square decided to prioritise Summer festival activities only. At the same time, all the alternative festive names for the locations were dropped by organisers, in favour of their real names (i.e. West Princes Street Garden).
