Edinburgh City Council is asking voters to check their polling card before going out to vote in tomorrow's Scottish Parliamentary Elections and Referendum on the UK Parliamentary voting system. Changes in the boundaries of the six Edinburgh constituencies mean that people may be voting at a different location this year. Some polling places have also changed as the previous year's are no longer available.
Sue Bruce, Returning Officer, said: "The Election Office has given letters to households in those areas where the polling district has been changed because of boundary changes. In other areas where the normal polling place has been changed for other reasons, the polling card will show 'New Polling Place' and its address."
She added: "Around 3,750 staff employed by the council and partner organisations are pulling out all the stops to ensure that the election and referendum run smoothly in Edinburgh. The vast majority of these staff will be working at the counts and in the polling places. To help make voting quick and easy, the message is always to check your polling card before you set off to vote."
The six Edinburgh constituencies are Edinburgh Central, Edinburgh Eastern, Edinburgh Northern and Leith, Edinburgh Pentlands, Edinburgh Southern and Edinburgh Western.
