Edinburgh Castle will be marking Remembrance with costumed performers on the weekend of 7 and 8 November. Visitors will be able to find out about life at the end of the First World War and in its immediate aftermath. Around 150,000 Scots died in the Great War (1914-1918).
Visitors will also be able to see original objects, paperwork, medals and memorabilia which give insights into lives of troops during the conflict.
Sheena Garden, Historic Scotland interpretation manager, said: “They will be able to talk to performers in the role of soldiers, including a young conscript of 1918 and a seasoned veteran who had managed to survive from the start of the conflict in 1914."
An expert will also help people with research into ancestors who served in the First World War.
The event will be in the Great Hall from 11.00am to 3.30pm on both days and is included in the castle’s standard ticket price.
Scotland's national remembrance ceremony takes place at the Stone of Remembrance, near Edinburgh Castle, on Remembrance Sunday.
