Castle of Light (2022)

Edinburgh Castle’s third iteration of its winter show Castle of Light will transform the castle into a “Kingdom of Colours”.

This year, the illuminated, promenade show is again put together by Double Take Projections, NL Productions, Andy McGregor and War Productions Ltd, in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland, the public agency that runs Edinburgh Castle.

Castle of Light 2022 builds on previous years, with the return of mascot Rex the lion rampant who will guide guests through colourful, thematic zones during the 60-minute walking tour.

Food and drink will be available for visitors as they make their way through the castle grounds.

As well as Castle of Light's historical light tour, Edinburgh's Botanic Garden returns with its annual festive light show this year, Christmas at the Botanics. The mile-long trail features a series of nature-inspired light installations draped from branches and illuminating the meandering paths of the Garden.

Castle of Lights runs for six weeks over the festive period, from Friday 18 November to Friday 30 December 2022.

Botanic Lights runs more or less during the same period starting Thursday 17 November to Friday 30 December.
