An innovative new project at the Usher Hall will offer up to 20 young people aged 16 and over the chance to test their music and event promotion mettle during the 'Young Promoters' training project.
The project is being run as part of the City of Edinburgh's Creative Links team/Usher Hall Creative Education programme.
The training programme will include PR and marketing, front of house, health and safety and promotion in practice. Trainees will also work together to promote their own event, to be performed in the Usher Hall next year.
"Anyone who's ever dreamed of becoming the next Geoff Ellis - the hugely successful head of DF Concerts and Chief Executive of T in the Park - should leap at the chance to join the Young Promoters project," said Councillor Deidre Brock, Culture Convenor.
"It promises to be a fantastic and practical introduction to the music and events promotion industry and what better setting than our very own world-renowned Usher Hall."
Councillor Marilyne MacLaren, Children, Education and Families Convenor, said: "This new project will encourage Edinburgh's young people to develop new skills and showcase their musical and promotional talents to the outside world in one of Capital's most spectacular settings."
The first meeting for anyone interested in finding out more is on Monday 26 October at 2.00 - 4.00pm in the Cambridge Bar at the Usher Hall.
The group will have a budget to promote their own event and will support the planning and promotion of the Creative Education programme's performances.
The project is looking for a group of up to 20 young people. Anyone interested should turn up on 26th and/or contact Cerin Richardson, Principal Officer Arts and Learning, on 0131 469 3956 or [email protected].
