This weekend Glasgow and Edinburgh comedy fans can expect some laughs and gasps, with a few rants against the small things in our lives, as New Zealand comic Jarred Christmas headlines Gilded Balloon Comedy at Drygate (Friday 6 February) and Gilded Balloon Comedy at The Studio (Saturday 7 February).
Jarred Christmas mixes gags, improvisation and boisterous storytelling. He has a dynamic onstage persona and an ability to improvise and roll with anything that's thrown his way. He is the winner of a whole host of accolades including a Chortle Award that has catapulted him to TV shows such as Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and 8 out of 10 Cats.
Joel Dommet, the face of MTV in 2012 and actor is the support act for both the Drygate and Studio at The Festival Theatre gigs. He will be joined by Chris Forbes, the critically acclaimed Scottish comedian, actor and writer.
Keeping the three men in order a will be compere for the weekend Katie Mulgrew, the Lancashire comedian who can be seen regularly performing at clubs all over the country.
Gilded Balloon Comedy at Drygate brings together the craft beer, food for the soul and comedy with a quality blend of up and coming comedians and the established comics in an intimate comedy club.
The Gilded Balloon at The Studio at the Festival Theatre is a brand new comedy club for Edinburgh. It is staged in the intimate and flexible studio space, well suited to stand up, and features a line-up of popular Scottish, UK and international comedic talent.
