An amusing parody of Schitt’s Creek, this musical about the attempt of various family members to become the ‘Grand Marshal’ of the town hams up all the quirks of the characters, but with fun musical numbers. It is a fast-paced romp through the election story and, whether you are a fan of the original show or not, you will undoubtedly be entertained by the silliness on offer.

The strong cast lean into the parody and storm through the story with energy and tongues firmly in cheek. One of the accents is so far over the top however that it can be quite difficult to understand what is being said for the first few minutes, but the text is clear when sung, so whether this is a deliberate choice or not is difficult to say. That is the only quibble however, as the reminder of the performance is entertaining and will make you laugh.

The musical numbers are well sung and there are powerful voices in the cast. The storyline is clear and there is a warm message at the end about what it means to be part of a place or space. The company works well together in ensuring there are no dull moments on stage. If you are looking for a fun show to leave you giggling, then this is the show for you.
