Scotland's national day of celebration sees a weekend long government-sponsored fest in Princes Street Gardens West, dubbed the St. Andrew's DO. The programme kicks off with a children's "happy march" along Princes Street on the Saturday and continues throughout the two days with circus skills workshops, a magic show and interactive activities for kids. For the adults there's events like a ceilidh workshop, and live music each night from Hip Hop Scotch Sandi Thom, Salsa Celtica, and Dykeenies.
The St Andrew's Day celebrations mark the official start of Edinburgh's Winter Festivals.
