The Hidden Door Festival will be returning this June for a "final" takeover of the Paper Factory, an industrial site on Edinburgh's west.

The pop-up festival has galvanised a number of large Edinburgh sites over the years, from the Leith Theatre to an old bus depot, since its launch in 2014.

Last year, Hidden Door transformed the Paper Factory for its biggest programme yet, with five-days of live music, art, dance, clubnights, and performing arts.

“Returning to The Paper Factory for a final year allows us to go deeper into the history and texture of the site,” said Hazel Johnson, Hidden Door’s Director. “We aren’t just putting on a show, we’re building a myth."

The Festival, which operates as a charitable limited company, recently announced financial support from Creative Scotland’s Multi-Year Fund, a major funding commitment that secures the future of the festival through to 2027.

“The support from Creative Scotland allows us to develop an ambitious programme that will treat the space as a living, breathing canvas, where the work of our artists and performers becomes the architecture that shapes the festival,” said Johnson.

The Festival has also just announced that headlining at this year's festival on Friday 5th June will be Norwegian singer-songwriter, record producer, and novelist Jenny Hval, followed by a club night with Edinburgh femme techno collective EPiKA.

On Saturday 6th June, electronic, Skye folksters Valtos will bring their acclaimed DJ/Live hybrid project High Water Mark, after which Fred Deakin (Lemon Jelly/Club Life) will draw on his decades deep experience of putting Scottish club nights.

The Festival has open calls for music, dance, spoken word and volunteers with deadlines later this month.

Hidden Door Festival 2026 takes place from the 3rd to 7th June. Events are free during the day, with ticketed events in the evenings after 6pm.
