Description
Handel's Messiah, written in 1741 at an inspired pace, was an immediate success and has remained consistently popular. Parts II and III set biblical texts to tell the story of Christ's sacrifice on the cross, his resurrection and his heavenly reign. The famous Hallelujah! is just one example of choral splendour, alternating with solo arias which play their part in bringing the text to glorious life.
