The Edinburgh Singers present the first concert of their 2019-20 season: Immortal Bach.
The focus of our concert will be Bach – JS Bach, for chorus and for cello along with other members of the Bach family as well as Bach reimagined by Knut Hystedt in the piece which gives us our concert title – “Immortal Bach”. We will also be presenting Tavener’s emotionally charged “Svyati” and will bring our concert to a stunning close with Ēriks Ešenvalds’ “In Paradisum”.
The choir is thrilled that renowned cellist Su-a Lee will be joining us to start our new season of concerts. After graduating from the Juilliard School, Seoul-born Su-a moved to Scotland to take up the role of Assistant Principal Cello with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, a position she continues to hold. She is also very much in demand as a soloist and chamber music performer of extraordinary variety.
The concert will be performed in the atmospheric St Mary’s Cathedral, providing a rich acoustic for music of such depth.
