Description

The Festival of Spirituality and Peace is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to nurturing a practical vision for peace. Their theme for 2008 is "Be The Change: Wellbeing of People and Planet," inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's widely-cited quote, "Be the change you want to see in the world."

The festival programme includes public talks, conversations, film, drama, spoken word, prayer and meditation, exhibitions, concerts, and workshops.

Some of the festival highlights include talks by peace campaigners Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Máiread Corrigan Maguire.

Overlapping with the Islamic Festival is the Discover Islam Exhibition at Edinburgh Central Mosque.

The festival will donate part of its ticket sales to relevant charitable projects identified in its programme.
