A cosy, Old Town bar, which due to its location on Victoria street, sees a fair amount of tourist traffic, yet retains a local bar flavour. What you might call an old man's bar, with its no-frills, wooden interior and conversational atmosphere.
Serious attention is paid to choice of cask ales and whiskies. The bar has its own-brand, house whiskies as well as hundreds of single malts.
Pub grub includes soups and locally made meat pies.
Historically, West Bow was a main route into the city for horse-drawn vehicles. When a reconfigured route opened up in 1837, the road was named Victoria Street after the reigning monarch. Lower down the street, where you find the Bow Bar, however, the road's original name West Bow is still used.
