Regimental memorabilia will be among the treasures on display when the Royal Scots Club takes part in Edinburgh’s Doors Open Day event for only the second time this Sunday (25 September, 10 am to 4 pm).
Part of a crescent built between 1807 and 1819, the building at 30 Abercromby Place in the New Town was first occupied in 1811. The Royal Scots acquired it in1922 from the son of Lord Inglis.
The most recent development, completed in May this year, included installation of a lift covering six floors as well as the creation of two new bars and an events suite opened by HRH The Princess Royal, the Club’s Patron.
The Club’s ornate Library has cabinets displaying the Regimental Silver. The entrance hall contains the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots Colours as well as a Memorial Cabinet to all Royal Scots who lost their lives in battle.
The New Town building is one of around 80 venues across the city that is taking part in the special two-day Doors Open Day event.
