The sun may be shining brightly on Festival Edinburgh today (Wednesday 15th), but there has been a few downpours in recent days causing the green grassy lawn around the Book Festival in Charlotte Square gardens to become waterlogged.
The Book Festival press and marketing department decided to brighten up the puddles and introduced four new members of staff - four little yellow ducks.
They are called Brookie (named after Christopher Brookmyre's new novel, "Attack of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks"), Charlotte, Zebra and Reekie.
For a few days they enjoyed swimming around the Book Festival garden "ponds", but suddenly they have disappeared!
Who has stolen the Book Festival ducks?
At least with a dozen or more crime writers at the Book Festival this year, perhaps Ian Rankin, Ruth Rendell, Val McDermid, et al, will be able to investigate this mystery and track down the culprit.
