Description

Malthus was right. There is not enough planet to sustain the growing human population, particularly given our species' profligate use of land and resources.

According to the Global Footprint Network, a sustainable population for our planet is between 1.5 and 3 billion people, but we are estimated to reach 9.7 billion by 2050.

In this Edinburgh Science Festival event a panel of experts look at the challenges and ethics surrounding the thorny issue of over-population.

The panel includes:

  • Robin Maynard, Director of Population Matters
  • Karin Kuhlemann, human rights researcher
  • Dr Alan Marshall, population ethicist
