Edinburgh is the birthplace and spiritual home of the Rat Race Urban Adventure Series (having been launched in the city in 2004) - the adventure race series set in an urban environment.
Taking adventure sports out of the wilderness and putting them onto the streets of the World's coolest cities, the Rat Race is a totally unique adventure challenge in which teams of two and three race in a multi-sport test of endurance, skills and guts combined with surreal sporting tests and obstacles at different checkpoints across some of the city's most challenging terrain; on a course that is only revealed hours before the event begins.
To compete in the Mean Streets challenge on Saturday it's just £35 or the Nine2Five challenge on Sunday it's £69 per person. Those brave enough to do both can enter the Weekender for £99.
The course is secret, but the event village sets up in Princes Street Gardens.
