The front of Buckingham Palace will act as a giant canvas for a special montage image of HM The Queen made up of tens of thousands of children’s self portraits.
Each child’s self- portrait will form part of the image, created by Ross Ashton to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
At the same time the montage will be shown on BBC Big Screens across the country, including Edinburgh's Big Screen at Festival Square, in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the 'Most artists working on the same art installation'.
To qualify for the record the art work must be shown for twenty four consecutive hours and can be seen on Big Screen Edinburgh from 8.30pm on Thursday the 19th of April all the way through the night until 11pm the next day. It will also be shown on Saturday, 21st April, from 8.30pm-11pm.
The current World Record stands at 28,267 artists and Face Britain looks set to surpass that number.
Thursday 19th April at 8.30 p.m. will see the grand reveal of the projection, and promises to be "a momentous occasion" say organisers.
