Half-price preview tickets for the hugly popular Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle go on sale tomorrow morning (10am, Monday, 25th July). The preview performance is on the 4th August at 9.30pm.
The event is completely sold out for the first ten days (5-13 August) and has a limited number of tickets for sale for performances later in August, so this looks like a great opportunity for those prepared to brave the early bird rush.
This year's one-and-a-half hour show, set against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, features the Massed Bands of Her Majesty's Royal Marines, Highland Dancing, the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the rousing sounds of the massed Pipes and Drums.
The wild card element is provided by a Dutch Mounted Bicycle Band, while the show rounds off with the Lone Piper playing on the battlements, before the huge cast march off Edinburgh Castle Esplanade.
This will be the first performance on the Esplanade with the new £16 million replacement grandstand or "amphitheatre" as it is also being referred to.
The new grandstand replaces the 36-year old Tattoo grandstands, which were based on the innovative Mero system used for Germany's 1972 Munich Olympics.
According to the official figures, the net income from the Tattoo last year was £7.96 million; it generated £34.37 million for the Scottish economy and supports over 780 jobs.
The Tattoo runs 5-27 August.
