Photography

There are some excellent Edinburgh photographers who cover this most photogenic city in all its permutations.

Many have links with the Edinburgh Photographic Society, the largest photographic club/society in Scotland. Almost as old as photography itself, the elegant New Town building houses facilities for those who want to muck around in the dark room with enlargers and chemicals and it provides a space for gatherings, talks, and exhibitions. The Society has held its Edinburgh International Exhibition since 1861 and continues to this day, with its annual exhibition for the public around festival time. You can also find photographic work by its members on its web site.

Another mainstay of the photographic scene in Edinburgh is The Stills Gallery on Cockburn Street. This Old Town gallery, founded in 1977, is both an exhibition space and a meeting point for new and established photographers.

Many individual Edinburgh photographers have their own sites. This is a by-no-means-complete list of useful resources of local photographers.
