The Lost Close

Buried beneath Edinburgh's Old Town are old streets and caverns from a past era, many of which over the years have been rediscovered and upgraded into atmospheric clubs, bars, for tours, and other underground venues.  

The Lost Close, discovered during excavation work in 2019, was originally the vault for the first purpose built bank in Scotland, before being turned into a prison for roughly 200 years. 

The stony walled space below beneath the old courthouse is now home to events such as whisky, gin and beer tasting and historical storytelling.
