Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden stayed open late on Friday 21st June - Midsummer's Day. Entry to the extensive glasshouses was free and there were inspiring art exhibitions in Inverleith House. BioBlitz events around the Gardens were recording wildlife - and some were designed, including pond dipping, for kids.
Outside the Fern House and close to Robert Fortune's original Trachycarpus fortunei brought from China, a crowd gathered to hear half an hour of popular songs from the Stockbridge Colonies Choir.
