The three young soloists made this a delightful evening of French sacred music at St Andrew's and St George's.
We heard the chorus members of Edinburgh Grand Opera under Rupert Forbes sing in Latin part of Fauré's Requiem with enchanting solos from both Gillian Robertson, soprano, who hails from Renfrew but studied music at Napier University, and Andrew McTaggart, baritone, who only recently was heard on BBC Radio 3 singing in another requiem - Howard Goodall's.
After the interval four lively pieces in French again by Fauré, one from the Chorus with solo pieces from Gillian Robertson and Andrew McTaggart who were joined by Tom Morss, tenor, a former pupil of the conductor, and a recent music graduate of the University of Leeds. On the Yamaha piano was Morley Whitehead who earlier had accompanied the Requiem on the organ.
The finalé was Bizet's Te Deum Laudamus sung for us in Latin by all forty or so on the stage, all in very good voice.
