For thirty two years from 1981 to 2013, 39A Queensferry Street at the West End of Edinburgh was the address of Bar Roma, the much beloved Italian Trattoria. Thereafter, a short-lived Tex Mex makeover into Chimichanga failed to entice diners back.

But in the summer of 2016, the spacious restaurant was radically revamped to create a quirkily designed Cocktail Bar and Burger & Pizza Diner called Foundry 39. The industrial décor is cool and contemporary – all distressed wood panelling, copper pipes and inventive lighting. With a choice of bar stools, leather sofas, banquettes and booths, this is a lively place to relax at leisure, drinking and eating from breakfast to lunch, gin o’clock to dinner & late night drinks.
