About the venue

Live music, performances, and late night DJs at long-running Edinburgh nightclub.

Just the Tonic puts on a small Fringe programme here in August.

Formed in 1992, La Belle Angèle was known for a decade as an underground institution and a tireless servant of Edinburgh’s passionate art, music and clubbing community which was devastatingly brought to a halt in the infamous Cowgate fire on December 8, 2002.

For 12 years the site that housed the fondly remembered and much mourned venue remained for the most part an undeveloped reminder of days gone by where such bands as Oasis and The Libertines had graced the stage, countless art exhibitions took place, the Fringe Festival thrived and innovative club nights such as Ultragroove and Manga led the way in the city’s clubbing scene.

Finally redeveloped after over a decade, La Belle Angèle has returned on its original site and is now a 600 capacity venue custom built to pick up exactly where it left off over a decade ago - to ensure a huge focus on live music, performance art, exhibitions and of course the best club events.
