Although it hosts dances and has a long association with stand-up comedy - the likes of Phil Kay and Fred MacAuly performed here when they were making a name for themselves - the Counting House is an impressive, but underused venue.
It has a large Ballroom and a smaller lounge venue. Two bars and an outdoor courtyard. It's adjacent to The Pear Tree pub, near the Pleasance Dome and the Teviot Union (Gilded Balloon).
In 2017, Laughing Horse returns to the venue with Free Fringe shows, after the Gilded Balloon had a stint at the Fringe 2016 using a Pay What You Want entrance model.
