There were echoes of last summer's Fringe ticketing fiasco today when tickets for Billy Connolly's gigs at the Usher Hall in September went on sale this morning and crashed the venue's online box office.
Angry and frustrated fans of the Big Yin complained of web site error messages and constantly engaged telephone lines.
The venue has an online and telephone box office, but the building itself is closed while it undergoes a £25 million renovation.
The Usher Hall has posted a message on the front of its website assuring that tickets are still available for the Connolly gigs:
"We are still working with our IT partners in order to fix the system problems we have experienced today.
For those of you trying to book for Billy Connolly we can assure you that there are still tickets left and we hope to have them on sale again soon. However we can can tell you that no more tickets for these events will be sold before 10am tomorrow. So you don't need to keep checking back tonight.
We will post a further update here tomorrow on our progress towards fixing the technical issues.
Once again, we apologise for what we are aware has been a major inconvenice today."
