In another outstanding year, Festival and King’s Theatres have seen a strong programme presented on their stages. The success of the programme has enabled them to achieve a financial surplus for the fifth year in a row and establish reserves just over our targeted level of £350,000.
As an independent theatre organisation and a registered charity in Scotland, they reinvest financial surplus in to their theatres and the communities they serve. In addition to a successful programme, education and outreach work is delivered by their ground-breaking Learning and Participation team.
In the last year, they have engaged over 25,000 people in education and outreach activities and the recent creation of the post of Head of Creativity and Diversity underlines their commitment to introducing new audiences and improving access. Their programme of relaxed performances has been extended to include all of their Christmas shows, and they continue to increase the number of signed and audio described performances offered throughout the year. In September 2015 the Forget Me Not project was launched to enable the Festival and King’s Theatres to become dementia friendly communities.
