Japan's special effects and techno dance group SIRO-A just put down in Edinburgh, hours after winning a Golden Buzzer award on “America’s Got Talent”. The award takes them straight through to the live performance shows in New York.
The group, formed in 2002 by classmates from Sendai in Japan, had its first international success at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2011 when it won a Spirit of the Fringe award and hasn't looked back. It has had 300 performances in London’s West End.
Using video projection, light animation, and lasers their show fuses reality and animation. Further ingredients in the mix are mime, dance, music, some friendly audience participation, and even a fresh interpretation of the ancient Japanese art of shadow puppetry.
Aki Okoma of SIRO-A promised that this year's show at the Assembly Theatre in George Square from tomorrow will be “much bigger, faster and better than ever”.
