With only four actors and a lot of energy, Recent Cutbacks brings Fly, You Fools!, their comedic shot-for-shot parody of the most epic fantasy film of all timeto the Edinburgh Fringe at Pleasance Courtyard.

Live Foley artistry (Kelly Robinson) takes what would otherwise still be a hilarious physical theatre performance and ups the ante; the addition of this sound design element makes it a technically skilled and animated reenactment of the story the audience clearly loves. Every member of the Fellowship is well represented (Nick Abeel, Kyle Schaefer and Regam Sims) from Gimli to Legolas to Frodo; Abeel brings Gandalf to particularly vibrant life with spot on mannerisms and accent. It’s laugh after laugh as they trek from the Shire to Bree for an epic stop at the Prancing Pony, then onto Rivendell, through Moria and to Lothlorian, finally ending at Mount Doom with Frodo and Sam hand in hand.

It’s silly but takes the commitment to the franchise seriously! Beautiful homemade renditions of the iconic music from Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Kelsey Didion) soars through the scenes and it only makes the film more vivid into this reimagining. Fans of Lord of the Rings will absolutely love this and want more.
