Prolific, dynamic Scottish duo Elsa Jean McTaggart and Gary Lister bring new show Caledonia to the Edinburgh Fringe. This is the perfect chance to experience the best of traditional Scottish music and craic from these multi-instrumentalists of the Isle of Lewis.

With rousing rhythm, this hour of foot-stamping songs and beautiful Scottish folk classics warms the heart with authentic and soul-affirming music. Skilled performers, they play from strength to strength, and the audience enjoys jumping in with steady clapping and encouraged sing-a-longing.

Projections of bonnie Caledonia itself play on a screen behind the two as they take the audience through iconic melodies of the nation’s history. The highlight of the hour is, indeed, Dougie Maclean’s Caledonia, with the audience joining in for all the verses in the legendary, heartfelt number. Old world meets new with this hour, weaving time-honoured tunes into modern arrangements.

The two are wonderful storytellers and intersperse their playing of the keys, bagpipes, pennywhistle, fiddle and more tales and delightful chatter for the crowd.

These two are a welcome staple of the Edinburgh Fringe. A ticket admits you into an afternoon of rousing and real Celtic beauty. Clap along!
