Professional jazz duo Ian Millar (saxophone) and Dominic Spencer (piano) are based in Edinburgh and have performed together for many years, playing high quality, sophisticated, melodic jazz standards, as well as their own original compositions, with the emphasis very much on improvisation. They have had great success at the Fringe Festivals in Edinburgh, Bath & Buxton, as well as the Edinburgh, Glasgow and Fife Jazz Festivals.
They regularly tour Scotland and beyond, playing in a range of venues across the UK – Jazz Clubs (including Henry’s Jazz Bar in Edinburgh, Arts Centres and small theatres from Aberdeen to Bath, Maidenhead to Winchester and Windsor, and even Brussels, while their regular rural ‘Jazz in the Village’ series has covered John O’Groats to Devon and Dorset, visiting hundreds of halls, often bringing Jazz to remote communities for the first time.
Juniper Green is not so remote! So do join us at the Village Hall on Saturday 6th October from 8pm. This is your chance to hear this talented duo live without having to travel too far from your home.
We do not have a licence to sell alcohol, so please BYOB and other refreshments.
“A unique performance, not only in its introduction of many new pieces but also in the splendidly relaxed jazz styling.”
“…really excellent Millar originals…”
“What a good duo this is! Ian Millar’s sort lyrical tenor sax is supported by Dominic Spencer’s intricate piano runs, each giving one another the space to play beautifully crafted solos.”
“… expect warm, intelligent, reflective, human music…”
