Emily’s Big Walk – Will you dare to walk the walk? Join the Sick Kids for ‘Emily’s Big Walk’ and raise funds to fight children’s cancer! Emily’s Big Walk is a national sponsored walk taking place in 20 cities across the UK.
The Sick Kids Friends Foundation are delighted to be hosting the Edinburgh leg of the walk which takes place on the Meadows on Tuesday 4th Sept at 6pm. Involvement from The Real Mary King’s Close means sponsored walkers will be will be joined by characters straight from the 1600’s, such as Agnes the maid, Mary Kings daughter Jonet and Walter the dreaded ‘Foul Clenger’ as they make their way round the Meadows, ensuring a unique and exciting night for all! Will you dare to walk the walk?
The walk is 5k or 2k depending on age and ability and is about raising funds and having fun.This event is in memory of Emily Bailes, a little girl who was diagnosed with cancer age 5 and after 4 years of treatment lost her brave battle against the disease.
It will raise funds for both the Children’s Cancer & Leukemia Group (CCLG) and the Sick Kids and the funds raised for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation will be used for making improvements in the oncology ward at the hospital.
