Councillors agreed not to increase the Council Tax in 2021/ 22.

Scottish Water charges for water and sewerage, which increased by 3.7% in 2009/2010, were frozen for Edinburgh in 2010/2011.
Cost of providing Edinburgh services in 2009/2010
In 2009/2010, Edinburgh City Council estimated that it needed to spend £4,866 per dwelling to provide quality services. The Scottish Government, on the other hand, calculated that the Council needed to spend £4,740, or £126 less per dwelling.
In 2008/2009 the Council estimated it needed £4,780 per dwelling to provide requisite public services. However, the Government calculates that the figure was £4,517 per dwelling, or £263 less per dwelling.
Total Revenue 2009/2010
The total revenue budget is £1042million. Council Tax makes up £225million of this with £816million coming from Government grants. The total capital budget is £294million.
