About the venue

The Ionic pillars of renowned New Town architect William Playfair's building provide an impressive entrance to the Royal College of Surgeons' conference venue, as befits an institution that has played a leading role in medical progress throughout the world.

While the neo-classical building dates back to 1832, there has been significant modernising within. The main complex, entered via the garden pathway to the recessed entrance, hosts meetings, private galas, and events, and is home to the surgical museums and library, aka Surgeon's Hall Museum.

The Symposium Hall has been transformed internally from the former St Michael’s Church into a 158-seat tiered auditorium, while the Quincentenary Hall provides a purpose-built conference centre, with a plenary space for up to 250 delegates, 3 sizable breakout rooms and a multi functional reception area.

The Surgeon's Hall complex also includes a small hotel, Ten Hill Place.

During the Fringe, Surgeon's Hall is one of the venues run by theSpace.
