About the venue

A traditional New Town building on the Inverleith Row arterial road, adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

The interior is large and airy thanks to the domed cupola in the main hallway, with stairwell leading up to a spacious Georgian drawing room and bedroom.

There are also bedrooms on the ground floor and in the basement, which has the main kitchen and dining area.

The spacious house has a large walled garden, accessed via the conservatory on the main floor and through the basement.

There is a pond within the garden, with frog spawning in spring, which attracts ducks throughout the year.

There are many heritage features to the building, with its ornate friezes, a dumb waiter, and winding staircase. A steep, narrow wooden staircase leads to the former maid's room, a cramped space in the attic (the maid would sleep in a cupboard).
From here you can access the flat rooftop, with views across Edinburgh rooftops to Calton Hill and the caste and stretching across the Botanic gardens.
