Established in 1583, the University of Edinburgh is one of the UK's most important and historic Higher Education institutions. Student numbers currently stand at over 24,000 and the University employs more than 7,000 staff.
The main campus areas are:
- Edinburgh's Central Area Campus A series of precincts, including Old College, close to the Royal Mile.
- The King's Building Campus The Science and engineering campus is situated about 2km south of the city centre
- Little France A modern, academic space for teaching and research with two large
lecture theatres and a medical library together with research
laboratories.
Research
Edinburgh University is world renowned for its research and teaching, it is a member of the prestigious Russell Group, an association of the UK's 20 major research intensive universities.
